1971 Design Gallery launch the exhibition ZERO @ The Flag Island on March 11 Maraya Art Centre, the innovative contemporary visual arts hub in Sharjah, has announced the launch of 1971, a new design gallery, in The Flag Island. 1971 is a multi-functional design space dedicated to exhibition, display and discussion on all forms of contemporary design ranging from graphic, furniture to interior as well as interactive design and new technologies. An exhibition opening on 15/01/15 Thursday at 19:00 of "Consumption" the Prix Pictet Global award in Photography and Sustainability. East Wing is proud to present the fifth cycle of Prix Pictet "Consumption" which will open on Thursday 15 January 2015. The exhibition features the work of the eleven shortlisted photographers  – this will mark the third occasion on which the Prix has visited Dubai. This year’s Shortlist of eleven photographers featured Adam Bartos(United States), Motoyuki Daifu (Japan), Rineke Dijkstra (The Netherlands), Hong Hao (China), Mishka Henner (United Kingdom), Juan Fernando Herrán (Colombia), Boris Mikhailov (Ukraine), Abraham Oghobase (Nigeria), Allan Sekula (United States), Laurie Simmons (United States) and winner Michael Schmidt (Germany).
